Veronica Perez currently teaches Spanish 1, 3, 4 and Spanish for Native Speakers. She is originally from Buena Vista, Virginia and graduated from Eastern Mennonite University. Her experiences with the language include living for two years in Central America, speaking Spanish in her home with her husband who is a native speaker and her children, and having work opportunities where intensive Spanish was required with international clients and co-workers. In her free time she loves to spend time with her children and read inspiring literature.
Melinda Shiflet currently teaches French levels 1-4. She is originally from Dayton, VA and graduated from James Madison University. Her language experiences include living in Paris for a semester during college and making many trips to France from her teen years through her adulthood. In her free time, she enjoys photography, playing the violin, artwork, dancing, working in the garden, and spending time with her husband, her family and her cat.
Diana Nieves currently teaches Spanish 2 and AP. She is originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico. She graduated from Bridgewater College and earned a Masters in Education at Eastern Mennonite University. Her experiences with the language include being born and raised in a Spanish-speaking country, speaking Spanish at home with her husband, and studying abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico and Barcelona, Spain and taking students to Spain and Costa Rica. In her free she loves to travel, spend time with family and friends, play volleyball, and cook.
Sarah Henninger O'Hear
Sarah Henninger O’Hear currently teaches Latin 1-4. She is originally from Akron, Ohio, graduated from Cornell University and earned a Masters in Latin at the University of Virginia. Her experiences with the language include 18 years of teaching, learning other Romance Languages, and traveling in Europe. In her free time she loves to hike with her husky Chani, to read Sci Fi and detective mysteries, and to go hear live music with her husband and friends.
Stacy Escobar currently teaches Spanish 3, 4, and 5. She is originally from Bridgewater, VA and graduated from Virginia Tech. Her experiences with the language include studying abroad one semester in Uruguay and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay for 2 years. She has also traveled with students to Spain and Ecuador. In her free time she loves to spend time with her family, drink maté or tereré, sing and read books.
